Beliefs

Our Core Beliefs

  • We believe that God is the Creator of this world and the Ruler of the universe. He has always existed and is God in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1-2:25; John 1:1-4; John 14:16-26; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is equal with God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people of all time. He gave His life, died on a cross and then rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. Then He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Isaiah 53; Luke 1:26-38; Luke 3:21-23; Matthew 28; Romans 5)
  • We believe that a relationship with God and the hope of eternal life is possible only through His grace. We believe that forgiveness of sins is offered by God’s mercy through the blood of Jesus Christ in His death on the cross. We believe the way to receive Christ as our Lord and Savior is to personally believe in Jesus as God’s Son, turn away from sinning and be immersed (baptized) into Christ, uniting us with Him. (Eph. 2; John 3:3-21; Matt. 26:26-30; Rom. 5:8-11; 6:1-7; Acts 2:36-41; Titus 3:1-7)
  • We believe there will be a resurrection from the dead, both for those who are saved and for those who are lost. Those saved will experience resurrection and life and those not saved will go before God to be judged. (John 3:35-36; 5:28-29; 1 Corinthians 15:12-58; 2 Corinthians 5:10)
  • We believe in the visible, personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory to gather those who are saved to join Him in Heaven. (John 14; Matthew 16:27-28; Acts 1:1-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling at baptism enables Christians to lead a godly life. (John 16:4-16; Romans 8:9-26; Acts 2:38-39; 2 Corinth. 3:17-18; Ephesians 3:20-21)
  • We believe that the Bible is God’s Word for all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and godly living, because it is inspired by God. (John 20:29-31; Luke 24:44-50; 1 Corinth. 2:7-14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • We believe in preserving spiritual unity with other believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 17:20-23; Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 2:1-5)
  • We believe in honoring and remembering Jesus through the Lord’s Supper, commonly called Communion. (Matthew 26:26-30; Luke 22:14-22; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)
  • We believe that prayer is a source of communication and power for Christians to effectively serve and minister in the name of Jesus Christ. (John 16:24-27; Mark 11:22-25; Philippians 4:4-7; James 1:5-7; 5:13-18; Ephesians 3:16-21; Ephesians 6:10-20)
